Padua, 24th June 2020 – Microsoft Teams has announced new features specifically designed to support the Education market, which in the last months has been struggling to enable distance and hybrid learning.
Microsoft’s mission, also in the forthcoming months, is to explore and implement new ways for Teams to support both student engagement and professional development.
Developers have collected customers’ thoughts and ideas to create a profitable online learning experience that could include tools to maximize the engagement of students in the lessons, to increase student-to-student collaboration and to facilitate teaching.
Microsoft announced it is going to release 20 new updates in the next few weeks. Here’s a selection of the most interesting ones:
- Just like in a physical classroom, students and educators will see many other attendees simultaneously: up to 49 attendees in a 7×7 class meeting view. This feature is a breakthrough because it will allow the whole class to work together and to create virtual breakout rooms if needed. Students can collaborate in smaller groups on a discussion or assignment and then easily come back to the larger group. This preview will be available at the end of June.
- Class insight tab is the feature designed to let educators focus on the interaction with the students: intelligent data analytics register hoe they are engaging and interacting in Teams meetings. This is already available.
- To help students keep their focus constant teachers can now eliminate distractions and create a personalized background. You can upload any image also related to your teaching, and in late June Microsoft announces fun new education-themed backgrounds.
