What is call archiving?

In a Recorder application, all voice and video recordings are stored on files containing captured speech traffic in a machine, called Archiver. These files are compressed, encrypted, stored, and organized in a set of system directories. All call details and metadata are stored in a database unit, keeping track also of the related file path and file name linked to each recording. Sometimes the Archiver has no limitations in terms of the retention of recorded calls but typically this is a configuration parameter and depends on two factors: the amount of physical storage available to it and the volume of the traffic to be recorded.

For very long retention periods, we suggest periodically transfer the recorded calls from the Archiver to an external NAS or other cloud storage, as for example Azure. An automatic and incremental scheduled backup of audio files can also be configured in order to copy recordings to this external network unit, using CIFS or FTP protocol. Files can be backed up in the original format or, in the case of audio files, in standard Wav format. For encrypted files, encryption will be preserved during the backup process.
